Data Collection/Management System for the Adult Fish Trap Facilities at Lower Granite Dam

Project: Data Collection/Management System for the Adult Fish Trap Facilities at Lower Granite Dam

Client: NOAA Fisheries

Year: 2011 - 2017

Location: Lower Granite Dam

Developed a data collection system to efficiently and accurately collect and distribute data on migrating adult salmonids to six different state and federal agencies.

The data collection/management system allowed for data entry using touch-screen monitors, data synchronization from the field to a cloud-based centralized database, and the use of a web-based data management portal to review, report, and manage project information. The system also provided (1) automatic generation and uploading of P3 tagging files into PTAGIS; (2) PTAGIS coding schema coupled with project-specific data fields; (3) connection with PIT-tag readers; (4) custom rules notifying users what to do with certain fish or in different situations; (5) reference PIT-tagging files for easy identification of recaptures in the field; (6) auto-generation of scale/genetic sample mailing labels; (7) tracking of fish transportation information; and (8) auto-generation of hard-copy reports to fish transportation drivers in order to deliver fish back to the hatcheries.
