Electronic Data Collection System for Avian Predation Monitoring at Federal Columbia River Power System Dams

Project: Electronic Data Collection System for Avian Predation Monitoring at Federal Columbia River Power System Dams

Client: USACE - Portland District

Year: 2009 - 2013

Location: Lower Columbia and Snake river dams

Developed an electronic data collection, storage, analysis, and archival system for use at FCRPS dams. Worked closely with the client to develop a standardized data collection application that could be used to monitor avian populations and behaviors at multiple mainstem dams. System included (1) a customized mobile data collection application residing on ruggedized tablet PCs, (2) a cloud-based master database where all project data was stored, (3) data synchronization that enabled mobile units to communicate and synchronize wirelessly with a cloud-based master database, and (4) a secure web-based data management console that enabled field researchers and project managers to edit, manage, report, visualize, export, and analyze project data.
